I have an adult colony of Acei Tanzania - 1 m 4 f and also have a younger colony of Acei Msuli Point - approx 14 fish - not sure of sex but at least two males.
Both of these colonies are currently housed in different community tanks -and both are showing signs of breeding - but no mouthfuls yet !!!
I believe their breeding is being hampered by the fact that they are housed with LOTS of other fish - and the only tank I have available to set up as a species breeding tank is a 6 footer!!!
Would it be feasible to house both these colonies in the 6 footer without risk of them interbreeding.....
Your advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Divide the tank then? :)
That way no interbreeding could occur... :P
There would be a very good chance of cross breeding.
Frenchy :D
they do interbreed easily so i would keep them in seperate tanks.
They are just different geographical variants of the same fish and will interbreed readily if housed together.
Cheers, Doug
Thank you all for your response ....
I will certainly take your experienced advice and not house these two breeds together - an excuse to buy yet another tank???
I appreciate your replies.

Just a question from someone who is ignorant.....
What would be the result of them interbreeding???? I mean, I see that the general feel is that it would be a bad thing. Whats the reason for that?
Just curious.
What would u sell them as? Or if they looked like one type & not the other, what is stopping you selling them as (a) type, then people buy tham as such, breed them, fry look different, then shit hits the fan...could be long answer, but gotta crash.
Frenchy :D
Ah, I see. Ta.
