Title: Gold Coast Water
Post by: pearcys_blues on May 05, 2006, 08:17:27 PM
Hi all
I have an ammonia spike in my fry tank so Iam doing a water change. I turned the tap on to fill my bucket up and the water comes out of the tap white. I left a bucket of the tap water in the bath and the water went clear. Is this ok to use i need to know ASAP as fry are only in a little bit of water? I use clorine nutriliser and they are africans. I think it may be lime in the water.
Cheers Adam

I'm no expert but seeing as the water went clear, i'd say it's just air in the water. Had your water been turned off? or maybe the council had been working on the line.

I've noticed when I fill tubs for water changes from the hose the water comes out frothy for a bit,but clears up after a few seconds.It must be from the old water in the hose itself.Is that tyhe same as your problem.
Cheers Brian.

I remember someone saying once, that as a suggestion run the tap for a minute or thereabouts before filling buckets...just incase, tap has been off a while, dirty lines....

I usually use a tap outside to fill buckets or drum, I water a couple of plants, before hand. Usually only run tap for 20 secs or so, I haven't had any dramas{touch wood}

Frenchy :D

This happened to me last week too. I just poured it out and refilled. Didn't happen again.

I would suggest always running water thru your hose for 30sec before using it for fish, just got to drink some of the stagnent stuff that comes out first to understand why. As justin said, water some plants or something.
