[b:7a31e562e2]What is the suggested P.h level for cichlids??[/b:7a31e562e2]
anywhere from 4.5 (ceritan apistos apparently) and 9 (Tanganika)
A better question is what hardness (KH & GH)
Which cichlids are you referring too?
Give us a bit more info and we'll narrow down the help :D
Steve
Mostly fronnies in there. Some Psuedotropheus acei, Nimbochromis livingstonii, electric yellows and Nimbochromis venustus. My water is always sitting around 7.6.
Im reasonably new at this and any help is appreciated.
Thanks
A stable ph of 7.6 is fine for what you're keeping. If you did want to raise it you could use shellgrit (hung in the tank in a stocking or in a filter) or any of the commercial products (seachem tanganyika or malawi buffer).
Think the mods need to kill one of these threads so we dont go answering over the top of each other.
Cheers
Steve
This question oftens pops up on the forums, the easiest way is to leave the water as it is from the tap. More harm changing the ph continously, instead let the fish get use to your tap water.
cheers,
Brent
That is generally true, but can all depend what you keep & where you live. Carbonate hardness is more important as a general rule.
Frenchy :D
O.k then, what is carbonate hardness? How do i test this, increase or decrease this and what level should this be at?
cheers
dude. Have you thought about looking up in google about what carbonate hardness is and stuff.
it's kewl to ask people but ya still can have a look yourself
Have a look hear it may help.

Ask question as that is what forums are for.
I suppose one way of learning is to ask Questions to those who know best.
Good read. Thanks a heap.
cheers
Fire away when it comes to questions. As said above this is a forum. :roll: Can't believe everything you read on the internet, information could be coming from some stuck up, know it all country hick from Grafton :lol: {only joking Steve}
