still eats like crazy and acts normal
should i leave it alone?
how do i cure this?
will it eventually die?
anyone been through this before?

If you have noticed it he probably has bigger issues inside. I suggest hitting him up with some decent medication, like clout from Aquarium Warehouse, use these instructions http://www.aq-products.com/Catalog/DIRECTIONS/CLOUT.htm

For this case one dose would be sufficient.

Probably a type of worm, maybe TapeWorms. Most worms can be hit with Praziquantel, which should be at most LFS.
