Hi all looking for any input on using pool buffer in your Aquirum to raise the ph any throughts.Besides it is only bi-carb soada.
Multty.
Yup perfect, same as buying bi-carb, just cheaper becuase they bulk bulk and repackage.
Hi Mick,
no problems there but make sure you do it really slowley, liek over a day or 2 cos it will cause kink tails in bns if you do it too fast.
The other thing is to make sure that it doesn't have any pool cleaning stuff in it like chlorine.
Cheers,
dan
Don't mean to hijack the thread but since we are talking about bulk ph modder's anybody know of a bulk and or cheap way to mod ph down
andrew
Basically there are not alot of things that will bring down your ph apart from commercial products and sulfuric acid. I have heard of people using lemon juice, which is an acid so would work for a day or so.
Also people use peat, which makes your water look like a cup of tea, if its a breeding tank thats fine, but discus dont look great in a cup of tea, also alot of timber, but im of the thinking that will help maintain a low ph, but not really get it there very quick.
I would use Seachem Discus buffer myself with there Acid Regulator, best products in my opinion and works out cheap, about $50 for a kilo, considering 50gm does about 560litres. which works out about $50 for 11600Litres.
Alternatively you can use an Aquarium Science one, which goes for $104.95 for 10kg.
Personally I wouldnt be risking my fish trying to do the sulfuric acid thing, but many do, so if you can master it would save you abit. But could be a costly learning curve.
HTH.
Cheers,
