I had what sounds similar a few years ago, we caught a shitload of them in the local river and whacked them in a 6 footer, looking good for a week then they started doing what u described, several died before we did a water change using water from the river they came from, within 24 hrs they were all looking good again, maybe they simply needed that
ackish water they were accustomed to.<

Sounds very much like too sudden a change to pure fresh water.   Don''t get me wrong, salmon tails will live and
eed in fresh (ask any angler who wets a line in lake Lake Wivenhoe!! the darned things are a pain in the butt in Summer).<

>Just that most of the salmon tails offered for sale in the LFS are caught in
ackish water where the young fish school in hugh numbers in season.   A bit of salt when first aquired is usually needed, dilute the
ackish water with water changes will get them into pure fresh without problems.  Just takes time.<

>Alan. When life gives you lemons ask for a bottle of tequila & salt.<
