Title: bad end to a good move!
Post by: climber05 on June 05, 2006, 08:32:20 AM
i recently moved from robina to coomera waters. i had a fully stocked 6x2x2 and an empty 4footer to move. i set up the 4 footer a week prior and on the day of the move transported all fish and filters to the four foot tank. everything went well with no casualties until i came out in the morning to find  2 of my favourite frontosa on the floor. i was devestated. the gaps they got through were  so small. the worst part was the tank was set up on the ground so the rest of my fronnies would've being watching there buddies die.

Geez!

Always a nerve racking experience moving the aquaria, and just when you think it all goes well with your main concerns - no glass cracking and tanks remain cycled - then of all things prized fish jump outta the tank!

I wonder what caused it? I heard once that sometimes fish try to remove themselves from an environment if stressed. But this could be from anything - the actual move, water changes, a new room. Did you arrange the tank in the same way?

Anyway, tough luck with the loss.   :(

Yea bad luck mate, Where they feed while in the tank? I notice mine at night chase and hunt some of the smaller fish (was not on purpose) right to the surface then bang. oftern get my big males with chunks outa there head from hitting the glass.

i fed them small amounts and tank was arranged differently. there was a large silver shark in the tank with them who has being going crazy lately. its being swimming full speed into rocks and sides of the tank. maybe it startled them causing them to jump out??
