Title: help with identifying Cichlid
Post by: Radshell on June 08, 2006, 12:16:58 PM
Hi,
I'm needing help to identify these 2 cichlid. I think they are from Lake Tanganyika and part of the Xenotilapia group.

Hi there Radshell,

They look like Xenotiliapia spilopterus and deformed ones at that :( The mouths look wrong.

Cheers
Steve

thanks steve,
the closest I came up with was Xenotilapia Flavipinnis Katili. I initially looked at the Spilopterus but the head region didn't look right, thus leaning towards Flavipinnis.

Any other comments welcome.

Hi Kelvin.
they came with a tank i bought here on the forum. They were on sand.
Looks like I'll give them the "knife". If they are deformed "as you say", I'd rather not have or sell them.

Thanks for your comments
