Hey,
I have a problem with my electric yellows, :( they won't swin around they all just sit in the corner of the tank all freaked out 8O . I have them in with some venustus and the venustus swim around not a problem but not the yellows the don't even eat :?: . Is there anything that I can do to get them out cause I have already tried other fish like big mollies and silver sharks nothing worked :? .
Any info will help greatly.
Cheers
Just few questions:
How big is the tank?
How many yellows and what size?
How many Venustus and what size?
Do you have lots of rocks and caves for them?
cheers
the tank is 4x2x2 with 2500L/H filter
11 yellows @ 7-8 cm
10 venustus @ 6-8 cm
they had heaps of rocks and hidy hole then we tried having nothing for them it made no difference either way.
cheers
kool fish, maybe they are just sooking.....do yellows do that??
no they dont sulk as far i know theyre normally active buggers who tolerate much bigger fish well and really get along with all other fish. I can only suggest checkin for amonia or any other tonxins. but seems strange try some live food like brine shrimp to see if that gets em going. peter
[quote:3ab6adce33]the tank is 4x2x2 with 2500L/H filter[/quote:3ab6adce33] Is that just an internal filter. I have a 4x2x2 set up with 2 internals & a canister filter. Have you tested your water? ...ammonia....
A good tip from Doug is to have your tank bare, when housing multiples yellows.
My only other thought is this, have a look at the symptons

Frenchy :D
it is an internal power filter. I have checked for any toxins and all tests came back good even did water change just incase but nothing seems to make a difference. i guess i wll just have to put up with it. It buggs me cause they are beautiful healthy fish and the buggars just won't swim around.
Thanks for all the help anyway. :D
I have ten E.yellows of similar size in a 3ft with five larger sized Acei, and they will freak out and school in one corner, not moving, if I walk right up to the tank suddenly and startle them. However, once they see it's Master to come feed them, they resume back to their usual activity.
So if you think they're otherwise healthy, all I can suggest is something in their environment is continuously alarming them and you need to find the trigger. Maybe try removing the Venustus temporarily to see what happens. Or maybe your power filter is really noisey (for a fish), and it's driving them crazy.
I think the broblem might be that the venusters might be harrassing your yellows
If there in breeding mode and mixing yellow fish can cause a few problems well the males r kind of yellow lol
Just put a spacer in the tank for a few days and see if the yellows come out
If so theres ya problem
