I'm new here today.. and i'm 19yrs old female, that lives on te gold coast and the sunshine coast in qld. I have a 2ft tank with a huge angel fish, a ghost knife, a rainbow shark, a sailfin pleco, and 3 big ugly suckers!! I want to get rid of 2 suckers and the angel fish and instead i want a red melon pigeon blood discus... if i can ever find one that isnt like $160.00. Anyways Just thought i'd drop everyone a line and introduce myself. By the way my real names Jade and i'm a law student at bond.

Hi Jade,
Sorry but your Black Ghost isn't a good tank mate for Discus and the Gibbie may be a bit of a problem too as they sometimes get a taste for sucking the slime off Discus.
If after all this you still want a Discus Jaynee is the one to contact.
Cheers Linda

Hey Jade,

Welcome, good to see a few more ladies taking to the forum.
As for discus, if you cant find anything from any of the member here you will be able to get in contact with a few of the sponsers. There banners are shown on the top of each page. A few of them stock good size discus.

Enjoy,

Adam

Hi Jade and welcome,Knifes get a bit snappy as they get bigger. I had 2 small discus in a 4fter with mine and he wasnt real friendly towards them, (tho he gets on fine with neons so go figure). My knife is only 12cm .
Also discus like quite warm water,27,28 degrees I think. I tried them in my community tank and they didnt survive, such beautifull fish really deserve a tank to themselves ( big one too they grow!)where you can tailor water chemistry and temp to their needs.
I reckon keep your Knife, mine is so tame he sits in my hand even if I lift him out of the water, and what fish looks so cool swimming?

I think i ahve decided that it just depends on the personality of the individual fish and whether they get along!!
