Hi,

I am using 2 cannisters in my 6x2x2, one is 1500L/hr and another is 1200L/hr.

I guess most ppl will tell you that you will need 2 x 300w for a 6x2x2 tanks.

But I only use 1 250w via aqua stainless steel in mine and it maitain at 29C.

Cheers,
Thomas

I have a 3' tank with a 4000l/ph as a sump. I also have my heater in the sump! With this setup I don't need anything else in the tank.

the Fluval FX5 (3500 lph from AOA) is a good option.   Or you could go 2 x 1500 lph canisters.

The fluval fx5 is a great filter & with the movement of water from it you might not need an internal power head.
Cheers Brian.

Even though its not a cannister filter, Cary option with the sump is the best option to filter your tank.

I have looked into a sump but I do have the room and cant put one under the stand  it would be to hard to get in and out. The tank and stand only just fit in the lounge were I am putting it. I like the look and sound of that Fluval FX5. I can't wait to set up this tank  :D . Thank you everone for your ideas.

Big tank like that, with a sump not an option, consider an air driven "side drop filter":

[img:c182145da5]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/GTR73/SideDropII.jpg[/img:c182145da5]

(big thanks to Sutto Aquaria for the pics)

Basically you section off one corner of the tank with two glass or perspex plates, fill it up with media with an uplift tube up the centre and an air rock at the bottom.
Water enters at the bottom of the plates, goes up between the two plates, is then drawn downwards thru the media towards the centre (uplift) tube where the air rock is creating up-current with its bubbles.
You can also employ a powerhead instead of an air rock (as in the photo example) but probably not really necessary.
Some people use a piece of the fake background (the plastic stuff), on or between the plates to hide the filter.

Massive filtering capacity, both mechanical and biological. One of these setup in your 6' and you'll save on power bills plus never have to worry about under filtering.

My sump is on a steel frame with shopping trolley type wheels, It is hidden under the main tank with doors to cover, the main advantage is maintanance is to replace the dacron every 2 -3 weeks. I can send a powerpoint talk I did at QAH if you are interested.
