Title: Lizard Help Please
Post by: Leeren on July 18, 2006, 06:33:42 PM
Hi All,
I apologise for this being off topic but didn't know where else to post.
I have just acquired a baby Lizard, there are 2 big ones that I would call goannas seen regularly around the paddocks here together, so am guessing this little bloke is possibly a baby of theirs.
He looks healthy other than a few scratches from the cat and had a couple ants crawling on him, his body length is about 10cm (without the long tail, I am used to measuring fish)
I have just housed him/ her in a 2ft tank with lids with holes in it along with some hay on the floor, a few tree branches, a bowl of water and  4 baby frogs that may be  to big for him to eat.
I know nothing about these guys and would love some advice as to keeping him healthy until the cat marks have cleared up enough to  let him go.
Many thanks
Karen

As far as I know, they need to have some sort of UV light that replicates sun. If you have a 2' light, you can buy a UV tube and slip it in there. Also, if the frogs are too big, maybe crickets? I know you can get live crickets from most pet shops.

Sorry I'm not more help. Good luck.
