Let's just say it's new blood and they're coming from Sydney.  8)  They're not imported - that's false advertising...    Good looking fish, you're better off seeing some pics and buying them than you are raising questions about them..

Cheers

I'm not commenting on boyd's imported fish or questioning his honesty as I don't know the guy or his fish, this is a general comment.

Wild caught/Imported/F1 etc....you'd really have to take the persons word for it, how could anyone really know where they came from unless they organised the shipment themselves?

I could advertise "wild caught/imported" whatever and try and sell them for a big $ to some gullible fool.  Only those who know the process of obtaining these fish would figure out the truth after questioning how/where the fish were obtained.

All of the fish came from the lakes at some time anyway, what's the difference if they were kept in a tank in a house beside lake Malawi and bred or sent to Aus and bred?  Brother/sister/mother/father fish could still meet up in the lake and breed just the same as in the home aquarium.

Sorry!

My apologies
I have edited some of my comments on this post to try and turn it from a discussion post, to a FOR SALE post.

Thanks Steve.

These are coming from Sydney.
They are a NEW BLOOD STRAIN. (sorry Ndoboi)
Once again my apologies for any wrong doings or mis-infomation i have given out.

Boyd

P.S. can email a pic of the fish, if that makes people happy.

If these are infact a new blood line then that would mean they are wild caught and have not already been interbred. I have it on good authority that the numbers of yellows in the lake now only number in the thousands and that the punishment for catching them is severe. Therefore the price of wildcaught electric yellows is high (much higher than $25 each). There is also the obstacle of getting them into the country and last time I checked, the price of any pleco in aus (even if they are less than $10 each overseas) is well over $200 bucks each.

Please be cautious when buying fish off people you do not know, as it can backfire badly (trust me, I know).

Wilson.

didn't all yellows come from the one pair anyway?

What these yellows mean is that it is new blood into this country
A new blood line in Australia doesnt mean its wild caught

I have seen these new yellows are the quality is top notch
I will get pics up as soon as i get one for you all
As said before if your buying wild caught fish thats alot of different peoples word before its get into this country

Imported was the wrong word but new blood lines into the country is the right way
I can vouch for Boyd he has been around fish quite awhile considering his age

Thanks

[quote:627bf70ac6] if your worried about limited bloodlines. [/quote:627bf70ac6]

And wilson if your worried about the quailty of the fish ask boyd for a pic.

The fact there is a new line in the country is great. The quality of these fish is by far the best I have seen. I cant wait for my share to come up.

This comment I dont believe was needed, I know for a fact that you have purchaced fish from boyd before, and looks to be just throwing wood on the fire. If the people are interested in the fish they should contact boyd and ask the normal questions as you would for any other fish or seller.

If you want to make a discussion out of it, put it in the right area.

My previous comments were not directed at Boyd or anyone else on this forum so lets not make this personal.

[quote:0e81a2a876="watsonboyd"]Pick up will be from mine after the order is confirmed.[/quote:0e81a2a876]

This to me suggests that the fish are coming from somone other than Boyd and whilst I have absolutely no problems with fish I have purchased off Boyd in the past, it seems that he is infact buying these fish off someone else from another state. I have done this in the past and been stung, even after reassureances from people who I trusted completely(at the time). I am simply urging people to do as much research as possible before giving relative strangers their own hard earned money.

If indeed these fish are as good as you say they are(If you say they are the best you have seen I trust they are very good as I am aware of your knowledge and experience with fish) then I am willing to spend money and get some myself as I am always on the lookout for quality yellows to ad to my collection.
I was infact offered some of these very fish from another source at a cheaper price a number of days ago, but was cautioned away from them as the price for a truly wildcaught or F1 yellows should be inexcess of $100 each.

This suggests that these fish are probably nothing more than very good quality yellows from our own current bloodlines that have been line bred to show maximum colour, as is the case with many breeders (e.g.DFishkeeper) and are not worth more than $5-10 each.

I am skeptical about the true ORIGIN of these fish(This is my opinion and I am entitled to it) but am not suggesting for a minute they will be bad quality, just dont hold your breath for a certificate of authenticity as to their true ancestry.

Boyd, I would very much apprieciate a photo, as I would expect many other interested buyers would, if you could post one.

Please don't tell me how to help run this forum as I am aware of the rules, and this topic got off track long before I was involved. I will however split this post and place it in the appropriate section as it needs to be done regardless.

Yellows Yellow Yelllows......

Sorry Wilson if that last post read like an attack, it wasnt ment to be and in no means was I trying to tell you how to run the forum. You and the other mods do a great job.

Just a few things that might help to clear this up.

[quote:bcb221501b] it seems that he is infact buying these fish off someone else from another state. [/quote:bcb221501b]

Yes they are coming from someone interstate.

[quote:bcb221501b]  I have done this in the past and been stung, even after reassureances from people who I trusted completely(at the time).[/quote:bcb221501b]

Im sorry to hear you got stung. Its not a good feeling   However I know the amount of speices Boyd has purchased from this supplier and has not had an issue in his fish keeping history. I to have had a number of shipments from them and never had a problem.

[quote:bcb221501b]truly wildcaught or F1 yellows should be inexcess of $100 each. [/quote:bcb221501b]

True that. I would expect the price would be $500-1000 each if they were wild. No where in his post did he say they were wild or f1.

I for one dont really care much for fish in this lake. Lake Tang is a much more interesting and challegeing task. Im looking at getting some of these for more display reasons not breeding.

Sorry again for picking at your post wilson, I would do the same to anyone else, you just seem to be giving me the material to do so. What can I say, I'm an opportunist.

For anyone looking at getting these fish they are great. Boyd stop keeping these people on there set and give them their pic.

Adam

Yes.. The Electric yellow is forever doomed to be judged by its colour, not really sure how this equates to quality [quote:9992cff115]lThis suggests that these fish are probably nothing more than very good quality yellows from our own current bloodlines that have been line bred to show maximum colour, as is the case with many breeders (e.g.DFishkeeper) and are not worth more than $5-10 each. Well if they came in via Tom from Dick via some european country then they are new lines. From what I hear fromSydney folk who have bought them they are excellent quality. So even if they are smuggled in from overseas & look better than our own which isn't hard, eg; people breeding tem to look orange , umm they are yellows

They all don't decend from a single pair that is niave thinking. That be like saying the only fish in the country were legally brought in.

[quote:859b300844]Stuart did capture 22 fish later on but had a bit of a spill and only a few were left. These were given to Gary Kratchovil in San Antonio, TX. You'll see him offer F1 stock from time to time. [/quote:859b300844]
How many others just caught a few passed them through?

The fact that people have different variants in the states, {read link below} proves that there are more than just 2 lines out there. Pictures too.

Thank you adam and the other people that have put in a good word for me.

I understand Wilson that some people might be sceptical about this. (for what ever reason, including yourself.)
If you are not interested in buying the fish or have a problem, why put a post up about it. This is the For Sale section. Not the General section.

Wilson, you have bought fish off me ? You even have My phone Number, if you have a problem with anything i have done please ring me and we can sought something out. eg. removal of post etc

Anyway i'll try for the second time can we make this a For sale post and not a General Inquirey post.

Cheers
Boyd

Why was it moved in the first place? It was a for sale add, followed up by questions & silly statements. Shouldn't the statements have been deleted rather the poor bugger who started the post having to go through all the rubbish.{meant as a polite suggestion}
