Sounds like an Amonnia problem to me. Get your water tested.

How long has the tank been set up for? What size is the tank, how often do you feed your fish, how often are water changes & how do you clean your filters?

Im really not against you doug, but if you dont want to admit whats up, just dont post with help topics.

I had to just about punch out the answers of you last night in chat, and put basically you have a 4x18x18 tank with 9 large frontosa and about 6 acei in it, and they are killing each other.

As much I would like to give you a cheap way out, it aint possible, there is simply to many fish in the tank, its like craming me in a lift with 16 other people for a week, in time im going to knock someone down and sit on them.

Wish you the best, but either get rid of the frontosa or get them a bigger tank, i relise you probably love them.

Cheers,

Glen

Mate nothing about being out in the open, we actually like to help, if you dont want to say anything just say the word, ill remove the post and pray for your fish.

We are just trying to help you, mistakes are what make us grow, i have killed my fair share of fish learning and so has everyone, its just taking it on the chin and growing which makes us good, not defending our old practices.

[quote:71f63c1eb8]its like craming me in a lift with 16 other people for a week, in time im going to knock someone down and sit on them[/quote:71f63c1eb8] hmm, I better not

Whenever you add more fish, this increases the load on the aquarium. If you were still feeding the fish twice a day, I would say the bacteria couldn't keep up with the increase of load/ waste.... As with all problems with fish, get your water tested first, never assume it is fine. If the water turns out fine then look at other possibilities.

The increase of the new fish, especially if one is agro would stress out the Fronnies making them more prone to diseases.

By the way, what symptons are the fish showing before they have died.

Hi Mate,
I was in the room last night when u asked for help, then basically ignored every question asked by a concerned few people!! After what seemed like about 20 questions on tank size, how many fish, fish size etc etc, u piped up and said 9 fronnies, x amount of Acei, etc etc, fronnies around 12cm-18cm + all of us in the room told you the same thing (Proverbial Sardine can) (Or as Grum put it (sitting on the dudes in the elevator) like we all said last night, would have worked for alittle while, then ultimately was a time bomb waiting to go off!!! way to many huge fish for the tank, the filtration was too heavy also for the fishes needs, 2000ltr an hour internal would have been blowing them around the tank, let alone the rock work!!!!! everyone in that room was trying to help you last night but you didnt want to hear it. then to my surprise and others obviously you post here and PM all the answers and questions??????
Then u feed the fish to the cat????? i am sure someone would have taken it off your hands!!!! not the fishes fault this time, just an inexperienced fishkeeper not wishing for whateva reason to take advise from people when asked.
This si what the forum is all about in my mind, where you can jump on, put up all the information to the issue you have at hand and you will be helped.
You asked a question, gave no details, had to have all the details pulled out then ran out in a huff!!!! Dude we are here to help.
No one that has responded to you wishes to see your fish die or suffer, and i am sure i can say that for all of them.
Just my piece.
Ray
If you ever need alittle advice, my contact number is 0406-007-646. anytime,
Thanx Mate, hope all goes well.

Guys I have met cichlid mad man and he wouldn't have fed the fish to the cat. Get over it he was pullin your legs and you fell for it hook line and sinker. Jeez talk about shark fishin at it's finest. I soent some time on the phone with him yesterday and we have hopefully solved the problem. Oh by the way mitch unless you are the size of Hulk Hogan I would really like to see you feed him to the sharks as I think it would be the other way round. Lol. So lets end the criticism here and hope the guy has everything worked out. Like most of us the only way we learn are by mistakes and you never know he probably took in everything you said on the chat the other night.

We didnt say anything, didnt get any answers to our questions, but on that note im closing it, please dont ask for help again unless your willing to tell us whats wrong, you wouldnt goto a doctor with a gun shot wound and then tell him your fine so dont do it here please.

I wish your fish all the best.
