Aquarium external filter is designed for creating a better clean and healthy environment for fish growth. Its performance is depending on the efficiency of filtration, which base on the right and powerful filter medias used, the quantity of filter medias included, plus the rate of circulation—the water flow rate in the tank. And the build in water pump quality decides the rate of circulation and filter lifetime (real water flow rate in the tank, not the marked pump flow rate). The filter shape and size do not affect the efficiency of filtration. The size and quantity of fish decides what sizes filter you should buy, no matter they are in 3 ft tank or 6ft tank – they make same pollution.
For sale is a brand new Jebao 815 model bio force external canister filter. It sold huges world wide under well-know German brand in Western countries. It is a one of great top quality aquarium external filter in the market. Retail price at around $250 with 2 year warranty. Now you can buy it at bargain price under special sale.
I use several of it's big brother the 838 & they are fantastic! the 1200l/ph 838's work much better than the 1500L/ph Pro Aqua I have. I bought mine on ebay B4 I got on the forum. (covering my arse) I added some more layers of dacron in the top as extra filter medium.

You'll probably find they're ok, however the big thing to note with these type brands is that they're invariably a Chinese carbon-copy of a German or Italian design and basically made with cheaper plastic an cheap labor. Quality Control has come a long way with Chinese stuff in the last 5 years and so these alternatives are completely acceptable given the nice price and like-perfromance, just that you may encounter things cracking or breaking if you aren't careful is the only real concern. Other concern is you can't take it back to the store being on ebay.
But hey, if it does bust in 12mths time you still get you money's worth due to the initial low cost.
