Title: Filtration for Breeding bristle nose.
Post by: Callyman on October 05, 2006, 10:40:22 PM
Hi all

I was wondering what recomendations anyone would have for filtration of a 2 foot tank I am going to try and Breed bristle noses in. I have spent the last 2 hours serching the net and have found heaps of different advice. The advice I have always had on the forums is spot on. So if anyone can let me know their thoughts that would be great.

I am planning on placing one large male 10 to 12 cm and 2 females around 6 to 8 cm. I am trying to decide between a Fluval 2plus internal I have or an external 1500, i have spare. I just don't want to blow the out of the water in a 2 foot tank.  :)

I have four bristlenose in a 2ft tank - 2M, 2F about the same size you have.  They are breeding merrily away.  Especially after putting a piece of pumpkin in for a day  :D

I just use 1 sponge filter and have 1 air stone also.  I do 3rd water changes every week.  They seem to be doing fine like that.

Hope that helps  :D

I have a few breeders
I think a spong filter would be best
I have had a few fry suckec in the the canister filter a few times
So if u want more filtracion use a sponge filter with a small power head on it
It should work twice as well that way
good luck

Andrew

Thanks guys

Sounds like the sponge is the go. It seems fairly cheap to looking at it.

I will have to pop over and vist Ben at AOA I think.
