Title: Gold Coast Auction; Any Opinions??
Post by: firemouthkid on October 08, 2006, 01:31:10 PM
Hi all,

Decided to head of to the auction last night with my dad, and a mate

It was a great night with many fish coming through from many different sellers.I entered the raffle and was suprised to win the filter (Thanks Aquariums Alive Nerang) in which i happily set up this morning and works like a charm. It's sooo quiet and easy to set-up.

Anyways, fish-wise, I bought a new colony of F2 Blue Dolphins,Albino Zebras and some hongi

Anyone else have any opinions on the auction???

We were happy!

Our first Gold Coast auction too - and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Got some really nice fish - and the visit on Sunday to Doug's fishroom completed the great weekend and "fishy" experience for us....
Could do with some advice on one of the species we purchased - see separate thread.
A big thank you to the sponsor and the voluntary staff - auctioneers, runners, canteen staff ... you all did a great job !!!!!
Regards

For those of you that had been to our old venue im sure you would be impressed with all the room we have now.

At one point of the night i counted 124ppl which is the same amount we used to get at southport, but the bigger hall makes it look empty.

Yes we were down on sellers but the oct auction is always smaller for us.

Thanks again to Brad from AQUARIUMS ALIVE for the raffle prize, and to all the workers that helped to make it a great auction.

cheers

Congrats firemouthkid on the win. :)

Not the best auction we've been to in terms of variety but the new venue is excellent.  Huge thanks to the organisers for putting the night together.

The wife and I picked up a monster sized Flameback who has really coloured up well in the tank and a nice Kadango so we had a pretty good night.

Smiley,

The eyebiters you bought were mine. I would be happy to discuss these fish with you, not a problem.

The adult fish are stunning and can vary a great deal in colour depending on the mottling pattern.

The ones I sold at the auction should be impressive as the males do not have a great deal of black in them and therefore their colour should be bright and clear.

The comments that they are "mutants" is debateable. I purchased some breeders several years ago. They have bred true with no adverse colour patterns or deformities. Where they originated from is anyone's guess but I am happy to keep and sell these fish as a true colour variation of eyebiters.

Regards

Dave

sorry if i gave the impression i was un happy with these guys dave, trust me if i was unsure i would not have bought them, you will notice that ive mentioned that im keen on keeping and breeding these fish. I hade regular comps many years ago and my hand was the first one up at the auction. So please  the only comment was i was unsure of the geneology of these fish. Now that you say theyve bred true im very happy with my buy and would love to see pics.I cant wait to see how spectacular these babies become. thanks for the reply dave  no offense was intended  peter
