Maybe ring Brad at Aquariums Alive. He is from down that way, so he might know of a couple of places.

Frenchy :D

Summerland Aquarium was pretty good....

There was a small aquarium near the Mitre 10 at Ballina that was also pretty cool...

Didn't see much in Lismore that caught my fancy...

But between the coast and Byron... It's all highway.... lol...

Maybe Donny could help you out ?

Hope that helps...

Summerland is not bad. It's at Wollongbar. Between Lismore and Alstonville. It's got a nice plec display tank. It tends to be a bit $$$. I wouldn't bother anywhere else if you are that south. (except from Donny's place).

Cheers Mitch

the shop in Ballina is pretty good, i think its called Aquarium Wonderland, its normally got a nice range of natives (and somre rarer ones too) i havent been in there for ages though. Also seee Donny at Byron Bay Pets and Produce. If its got scales and swims about he'll know just about everything there is to know about it! I cant think of any other good shops down this way, i normally head up to QLD looking for cool shops..HTH
ps. theres a new pet superstore place at Lismore Square, its a bit out of the way from Byron, ive never been there so i dont even know what fish theyve got...

EDIT:oops   i just realised how late my reply was. sorry....

On the coast I would happily reccommend calling in and seeing Brad and Matt at Aquariums Alive. They are always trying to expand there Cichlid range. I would also see George at Runaway Bay Aquarium for anything Discus. Q Aquarium is not too shabby, well priced. Also there is 1 on Nind Street, Aquarium Pet Land or something. Best range of Tangs on the Gold Coast imo.

I certainly would avoid at all costs Aquarium Warehouse and Burleigh Pet Centre.

I dont mind the Aquarium Warehouse store at Labrador, its nice and neat and fresh. It seems to have a decent range of fish at good prices. I have bought a few from there and never had an problems with death or disease. Southport one is getting a bit tired but i guess thats what happens after a period of time.

I will recommend G and S aquarium Q aquarium and if your into Marine or even enjoy looking at beautiful marine setups head to coral plantations at Currumbin, it would have to be one of the best in QLD i think.
