Title: heat killed all of my fish
Post by: plec on October 25, 2006, 02:37:17 PM
hi everyone just writing a warning to you all. i came home today to find that one of my air stones were wrapped around my heater and the water is about 40 degrees at a guess. i had all long fin bristlenose species in this tank as well as about 100 albino fry at 3-4cm and i am devestated to say the least. the only thing that i am glad about is that i still have a couple of other tanks with some lesser valued fish in them. so yeah be careful about this happening as i did not even know that it could happen thanks. thanks.

Sometimes the damnest things will happen to wipe out a tank.

I stopped using airstones when I got Mbuna and their preference to rearrange everything. Now I just aim a filter outlet upwards to break the surface tension, as this aids in O2 exchange just as effectively as an airstone anyway.

Sorry to hear about the loss.
