Post by: bmxbandit on November 21, 2006, 08:57:44 AM
hey guys,
i have just had my first spawn of black calvus and today im going to try and get some baby brine shrimp to feed the fry.. i have done a search and found heaps of helpful info but i still have a couple of questions...

where do you buy brine shrimp eggs? got some from a lfs

how long til i can feed them to the fry? my fry are about 5mm long and you cant even see theyre mouths ?

what can i feed them while im waiting for the bbs eggs to hatch?

i will hatch them in a coke bottle with the bottom cut off and i will use sea water.. any other tips i might not know of yet??
thanks in advance!!

You can buy cysts at your LFS. There are also places online that sell small amounts.

Fry should start taking them once they have absorbed their yolk sacs.

I use 2 teaspoons of salt and a pinch of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in 1 litre of water. I leave this at about 25 degrees and is ready roughly 24hrs later.

While you r waiting for ya swrimp
Just mash up some brine swrimp flake in to a fine past and put a few drops over the fry and see if thay eat it
Not too much or u will cloud your water
