Title: Finally!
Post by: moses on November 28, 2006, 03:08:09 PM
Well I've had these convicts for a little over 2 months and thought they would never breed and I'd be the only person who couldn't get these buggers to breed  8O
I didn't see them for about a week and then today they reappeared with some little fry :) Hopefully they won't eat them so I can feed them to my fronnies in the future.

Is it breeding season or something? I have hongi fry, electric yellow fry and now convict fry. Just waiting on the JD's and I'm set.

Anyway just thought I'd share my first convict breeding experience with everyone  :P

Aren't Convicts cool - they've got personality and display maternal brooding with the young. Just great to watch. Congrats!

They are in a standard 3 footer with no other fish. Could almost put them in a 2 footer as all they are interested in doing is breeding, not swimming.

Might add that they are very good parents. The male guards them when you get too close to the tank he attacks, but on the other side if one of the little fellas gets away from the pack he picks it up in his mouth and places it back with the others. Very cool to watch their parental instincts :)
