Title: fish for fish
Post by: clownie on February 17, 2007, 07:25:10 PM
g'day to all,

as i have an ever growing fish population, i'm very conscious of the need to feed them top quality food. i have a few tangs and was wondering what people thought of feeding their fish bait fish. whether it be from caught herring off a bridge freezing it and scraping some off into the tank now and again, or small pieces/slivers of flesh or some frozen bait such as whitebait (which ive read somewhere here some people give them to their fronnies).

also as i have a few tangs (black calvus and alto comp) what does everyone else feed theirs in the way of shrimp. i feed mine the odd block of frozen mysis and brine shrimp. the problem is the more active fish gobble it all before the tangs have their share. maybe live shrimp from the river/creek, buy some krill from the fisho market, slice up some prawn etc etc

thanks everyone in anticipation of helpful info

Just be careful when catching anything out of creeks. Disease transfer is very easy this way.
I had a flatmate catch his feeders this way, prized fish dieing is an expensive lesson.

Frenchy :D

breed you own feeder fish, get some crazy breeders like convicts or similar...
