Thanks for the feedback, this is just the start. There will be many changes and constant improvements along the way.  We did place an announcement on the old board advising that we were moving over to the new platform within 48 hours. I apoligise to those that did not have a chance to view the announcement before we transfered over.

The only thing I can really criticise is the fact the main body of the forum (the middle bit where the posts are) is very busy.  Its fairly squashed up in the middle and with headings, signatures and side bars, it makes for a crowded space.  Plus you end up scrolling and scrolling to read all the posts as each one takes up so much space.

Also is there any way we can get peoples locations to automatically show up in the sidebar of their posts.  Makes it easier when looking at buying something, you don't have to ask the old "where are you located?" question.

Other than that looks pretty good.  I'll give anything a go really and they say that a change is as good as holiday!

PS. the smileys aren't working

Well, that was annoying. Just got shuffled into the new site after trying to login off my IE Favorites link, and had to:

1. Try to login, unsuccessfully.
2. Try to run the "Forgot Password" process, unsuccessfully.
3. Email the admin team for guidance.
4. Go back to the old website page and check my profile, which is still sitting there, which worries me - is it secure?
5. Try the "Forgot Password" process again, with a different email.
6. Wait for an email.
7. Reset my password.
8. Logged in.

Not real happy for a member since November 2004.
Other than that, the site seems good and at least my Avatar and PM's are preserved.

Hi,
We'll with a bit of a step learning curve, Im getting the hang of this php! Still got a long way to go but were up and running with no more bugs or errors! Even transferred all our old posts and pm's over!

Thanks for the complements and feedback!

Jeffc, agree with the busy look, any better now? Hope so. Just fixing the banners... I'll get people's location showing in the user info too. thanks

GTR73, sorry you had problems! All usernames, password and info was transferred, you should have been able to login normally unless your password was bookmarked and you had forgotten it?
Only just got your email, 10 minutes between your email and your post... The information on the old site will be removed shortly and everything there is as secure as it was running... Anyway, all good you in now, hope we can make you a happy member again!

Many improvements to come over the next few weeks.

Thanks & Regards

Perhaps I'm dumb....but I've spent the last few days thinking someone had hacked into the old site and redirected everyone to another site....particularly given the recent dramas!

Perhaps the header in the opening page could make some reference to the old site so members can see that there has been a change and they are still at the old site.....ie formally qildcichlids.....or has someone else stolen the member list and started a New site???

Can't see the reason to change personally.....as my father always said...If it an't broke DON'T FIX IT!

Hi Rod54
I'll update the front page! Sorry for any confusion caused...
The name has been changed to Scales and Fins to expand our horizon.
Not sure if you noticed all the error messages on the old forum? It was slowly falling apart, loads of missing scripts and problems... Was much easier to just upgrade the site, more features too 8)

hope u enjoy!

tks
