Title: Otocinclus food
Post by: Corydorable on October 23, 2026, 09:04:56 PM
What does everyone feed their Otos?
Mine get blanched cucumber once a week, the occasional algae wafer, and recently also added catappa leaves.
Does anyone use powdered biofilm promoters like BacterAE? Seen it suggested online before, but also quite expensive

Hi Corydorable, I did some asking over the weekend and it sounds your Otos are living their best life. Apart from algae wafers and seaweed most are living off the algae in the tank and are basically are the clean up crew.

You also need to have plants, wood etc to encourage the food source.

If you have an extremely clean or new tank the biofilm promoters are important, but if it is an older natural tank they are doing fine.
