Title: Breeding boxes/containers
Post by: SarahAngels85 on October 24, 2026, 02:22:12 PM
Hey everyone

Im new to breeding angelfish, 2 of my angels are finally at the age of breeding.

My first attempt at keeping fry alive was a fail. I thought they would be big enough to not fit through a mesh breeder box. I was wrong.

Is there any good breeder boxes I could use so this doesn't happen again?

Ive seen a few aussie fish youtubers use plastic containers that sit on top of the tank. But where can I buy a container like that?

Or will a plastic breeder box be sufficient enough until I add them to a grow tank?

I want to give future fry the best possible chance of survival.

Hi SarahAngel85, in my opinion you would need a solid acrylic breeding box, filtering and out in the same water they were born in. This would be the safest and least change for the bubs. The parents will eat them also coz they just don't care. I grabbed this photo from the internet as an example but it doesn't have the pin and outtake. Just until they are big enough to go in a grow out tank.
