I have 4 adult olivaceous brichardi, neolamprologus olivaceous I think. Pretty sure there is 2 males and 2 females. They have never bred for me and was wanting to know if there are any tricks or techniques that others use for these fish.

Thanks.
Dave

how big are they Dave?

being from the brichardi complex they should go like rabbits.

i have found they do better in a tank with some other fish, kinda distracts them from beating up each other.. but have also bred brichardi in a 2 footer, just a pair, went nuts they did. give em a pile of rocks or a small terracotta pot, small entrance and see how they go

Hey Mick,
They would be easy 7cm, I've had them for over 12 months now. Had them in the 8' for a few months with big rock pile, heaps of nooks and crannies but no action. before that they where in a 6' with other fish small pots etc as caves, no luck. ATM thay are in a 2 footer because I have nowhere else to put them. I'll get Andrew to have a look at them when he comes over and see if both sexes are there. Never vented a fish before, had a quick look when I caught them out yesterday, not 100% sure but I think two of each :?
One always seems to be outcast from the rest of the group, (the second male maybe?), the other three get along fine.

Thanks for the help.
Dave.

Dave,
We had 2 male and 2 female Brichardi in a 3ftx12inx15in tank. 3 of them ganged up and beat the crap out of the sub dominant male which I them removed and have had no dramas with them breeding almost too regularly since then. Maybe try the trio scenario and see what that brings. Hope this helps and good luck.
Cheers,
Bryce.

Thanks Bryce,
I've just moved them in to a two footer with some small teracotta pots. I'll have to let them sort themselves out again and remove the one that gets picked on. Hopefully that will help.

Thanks.
Dave.

Keep an eye on them dave it doesnt take long for brichardi to kill one another if they get the urge! I also find a pair is best , two is company three is a crowd...
