hey guys,

i've had the 6x2 in the shed for a the last year, full and sitting on planks so i know that's fine.  Finally got down stairs tiled and can set it up properly now.  The stand is wood from 'aquariums r us', i've seen these stands set up before and am confident this one will hold but i just can't help feeling a little scared.  anyone else feel like this when setting up a large tank??  it's over half full atm and I might need to get under it to feed the filter pipes up around the back, this is the part that really scares me, i was imagining getting under there and it giving way......  i'm sure i'm just worrying about nothing as like i said, i've seen these set ups before but........ someone please tell me this feeling is normal and i shouldn't worry should I??

thanks

ha ha ha...

ah champ.....if the stand was bought to fit the tank, have no fear...

don't go knocking it though now will you :)

seriously though, 6x2x2, if it has 8 legs i'd be very happy, 6...they'd want to be good :)

Cheers mate, seriously no problem if the stand is built to hold it. always interesting thinking about it thought isn't it, i wonder about it all the time when climbing around under mine so you are not the only one, and hell, i am a bloody engineer!

Having sat in the lounge watching TV and heard a CRACK! and watched 60gals of salt water pour into brand new carpet I can understand your fear!
That was the only tank I have ever had break, must have been a flaw in the glass or something, held for about 4hrs after filling the tank before it went. Cracked diagonally across the bottom.

Now that I have your stress levels peaking, I'll say dont worry about it, the makers of your stand would have been sure of its construction in these lawsuit happy days.

And I'm jealous of your new tank :)
promise I wont buy any fish this week..... NOT!
