>1:  Yes. The less you feed it, the slower it will grow. I had a barra in a 3 foot tank for a while and he loved it.<

>2:  More food = more growth. But they aren''t a "fast" growing fish.<

>3:  The standard 2 - 6 times per hour. A large tank with a single fish can get away with less, but big fish are messy. Ideally a UGF with no substrate, into a hangon or similar setup would be good. The filter sucks the waste through the mesh and then up to be filtered. But get a power head for some water movement.<

>4:  As long as they are in water they will be fine. Most large aussie natives are pretty bulletproof. I have put
eam caught in the ocean straight into fresh water and they have been fine. Don''t worry about a heater, but keep it above about 15 degrees, and add a little pure salt. Don''t use iodised salt. <

>5:  If you get them small, other bloody agressive fish can go with them. Someone on here had a dovii, a jack and a toga or something similar grow up together. Saying that though, jacks are territorial and not friendly. I had one kill a barred grunter, and keep a pair of convicts at bay enough to eat all the fry.<

>6:  The native fish site is good. It is www.google.com.au/url?sa=...u/&e=10342<

>7:  They spawn in spring, try to wait until after then when they are in season. Go to the local fish shop and ask them to get you one when they are on special. As it gets later on in the season, everyone is trying to get rid of them to have the space ready for next years batch.<
