I was thinking to day about a self cooling fish room
I have 2 idears about a fish room
1) have you ever had a wading pool under a high set house
And jumped in after a hot day only to find the water was freezing

So if you built your fish room with luvers all round the breez flowing through would keep the tanks cool
And for winter all you had to do is paint the luvers  white and keep the warm air in

2) It was pritty hot today but the loo at work is alway 5 to 10c cooler
Its just jiprock walls and roof in 1 corner of the factory
With a small exauct fan in the roof
So I fige if you have an old tin shed u could build ya room in side that
The heat will stay out side the room keeping the inner room cooler

Well its just a thought

Insulation goes a long, long way too. I've visited a few tin-shed fish rooms on a stinkin' hot day, expecting to walk back out minus 5 litres of sweat. However upon stepping inside an insulated shed it always turns out to be nice and cool inside.
They usually have the wool fibre imbedded aluminium paper lining the roof and wools, which does the trick, but I've seen one shed with polystyrene lining the roof which worked well too. Add a whirly bird or two and even better.

the best external fishroom would be made from an old cool room. 4 - 5 inch thick polystyrene sandwiched between two aluminim panels.
keep an eye out for clubs - pubs - shops that are being rebuilt/refurbished.
I know as I used to do commercial airconditiong & refrigeration, these cool rooms usually just get dismantled and dumped and the bloke at the tip strips the aluminium off of each side of the foam and cashes it in.
If your lucky enough and you asked them,  they would pretty much let you take it no worries, saves them hiring a skip to dump it, unless someone else on site hasn't allready grabbed it to make eskys/iceboxes etc.
All youd need then is 1 window rattler AC unit and it would be perfect.
If only I was into fish back then
Cheers.....

How about a wading pool on the roof? Perfect for keeping live food, tougher fish species and green water.  Might have to keep a net over it to stop the birds though.
