Im setting up a new fishroom in a few weeks (when ive finished moving house). Im wondering what kind of filter should i have in tanks with small fry, and also breeding tanks, such as Elec Yellow, Convicts, B.N's etc so the fry wont all get sucked up. Would this be suitable-

(1 in each tank)? Ive got a 1900L p/h 4 way outlet air pump with T pieces loads of tubing and air pump access, so i can get a filter and small airstone to each tank. They are 2ft tanks about 55L each. Im not wanting to spend alot of money on filters as ive spend enough on the set up. Any suggestions at all with this or what you use much appreciated. Thanks!

Sponge filters would be better, especially for the fry tanks. No chance of them getting sucked into the filter & they like to nibble on the things that grow in and on them. I think Ben at Age of Aquariums does a deal if you buy a box of them. Or hit Glenn at Fishsupplies.com up for a deal on a  boxful. They are both sponsors of this forum and will both look after you.

Thanks for the advice. Im going to breed convicts aswell, and they care for their young in the breeding tank for a month or so, would you suggest the same sponge filter here? or a corner filter like the link above? Do sponge filters work well to keep tanks clean? Thanks!

Same principle applies, but even more so, as the fry of American substrate spawners are much smaller than the fry of African mouthbrooders, and even more likely to get sucked into your filter. Go with the sponge filters, they do a good job.

yep sponge filters, much easier/better and great for fry

corner filters can trap fry

Also, i wouldn't buy that one off ebay - $7.99 + $6.50 shipping, what a rip off.  The Warehouse has those same filters for $2.99.
