Ok, so your favioute fish comes up for sale; How much are you prepared to spend in one hit?
I've been trying to sell some fish in the trader and just want to see what people's budget and spending habits are like.

I voted $100-$500 cause i've done it in the past.

The only fish i would consider spending over $1000 on would be a ray.

It depends on what they are, but lately I have done several hits of $150 or so at a time.  But they have been fish I have wanted for a while.
Formerly known as Muttley!

ive spent over 500 on a fish but would have to be a god dam GRATE fish to get me over 1000. but if it was something i am hanging out for i would do it...

Look.....  if I had the spare cash I'd be haggling with illegal deep sea jap trawlers trying to score a baby whale or something.

You know what would be really sweet?
Like genetic engineered micro dolphins.
A 6 footer with a pod of 10cm long mature bottlenoses!
serious do I hear $25,000 each?

Was just thinking what I'd be happy spending more than 3 thousand on.
and dwarf bottlenose would have to be it!

Depends on whether I think I can breed them or not. If breedable then expensive is GOOD!! The fry will also be expensive and unless I kill the fish, all expensive fish usually holds value. ie worst case, I attempt to breed for a while, get to keep a rare fish and then re-sell later if/when I give up.

Weeeelll thats what I tell myself anyway.

I'm with Winston, I broke all my spending rules (and my wife's ::)) when I bought 7 wild caught "Ikola Blue Lightning" frontosa last year. I had the same attitude as Winston, and I have lucked out and they are breeding for me, allowing me to sell the fry and recoup my initial cost (and stay married ;D). To be honest, they are such beautiful fish that I wouldn't have minded if they had not bred for me, as I really enjoy just having them. And as winston says, if I needed to, I could always have resold them and recouped my initial outlay (that's what I told my wife, anyway ;)).

Cheers, Doug
