Gday all,

I have set up 3 fish tanks on top of each other. 4ft long.
I have set it up so that a canisted filter sucks the water out of the bottom tank and pumps it into the top tank. the water flows through pipes from one tank to the next. the filter (marathon 1500) pumps water at about 1600l per hour. i need to slow this down to approx 600l. I will have a internal filter in each tank to help with water flow.

any info or ideas would be great.

bud,
you could try one of them in line taps that are used in irrigation set ups  but you will shorten the life of the pump as the motor wants to spin/turn at a set rpm.
slowing the flow will make the pump work harder and not run as efficiently as it could.

Maybe set up a "t" junction of some sort where 1000 lph goes back into the same tank that is was being pumped from and another 600lph goes up to the top tank ???

Would that work ?

Or split the output hose, and direct it back into the syphon hose going into the filter, double filter half the water, and only half the output.
