I think the CFD might be the newer model. But i could be wrong

cfd is newer only difference i can see is that the new ones have a shut of value on the intake/output. and the whole value clips out so ya can disconnect the sucker easyer.  

The D stands for deluxe, it has a ceramic impellor and both hoses clip out even easier. basically the same filter with a few improvements
