African cichlids seem to be so popular compared to american cichlids. why is this?<
><
>anyone here like to share what sorts of americans they keep?<

>At the moment i have 4 little firemouths, and i am hoping i will get a pair out of them.

I think its due to the fact that the africans are a little easier to keep together than the americans... Who tend to fight till they kill each other more so than the africans. PLus americans get alot bigger than the africans so its not as easy to keep so many in a tank... for example. I have red devils and only have two in a 5 foot tank... Some people say its a waste for just one or two fish but everyone has their opinion.... I also keep oscars... which i find give each other only a touch up every  now and then and they are in a tank full of africans. No deaths which is good.
evz ;)

Only trouble with Americans is they can be touchy to
eed,for example i have a male Red devil at the shop iam sure is gay
