waahoo

your right it got a bit heated.

all is good.

talk to ya on PMs fishie boy

ashhhh

ok tough guys, back on topic aye?

someone mentioned with desalination about the salt being put back into the ocean affecting the salt levels??
Theres too much of an expanse of water for it to be of any effect and besides, global warming is melting the polar ice shelfs releasing huge amounts of fresh water into the sea every day which would pretty much counter act any effect of extra salt in the sea from desal....just some thinking out loud :)
Cheers.....

[quote:6223ec2c52]in australia we will certainly have (Alert admin)s out there against any idea they come up with.
so my opinion is just F#@ken do it and tell the people to like it. [/quote:6223ec2c52]

Whilst I don't agree with waahoo's style of communication....he does raise a issue worth discussion.

The current World economy and our evolution to date has been based on expansion....and a growing thurst for resourses. What ever system is invented......in a free enterprise society there is alway someone ready to break the rules for their own advantage.

Eventually we will have to stop expansion and development....building new dams, etc etc and live within our means....you can't fit 500 guppies in a 2ft tank....and even if technology allowed it would you really want to do it?

Some would probably say Yes!....and that's the problem!

We are guppies in a finite fish tank....our current system without controls will eventually be unsustainable and I don't think the general public (World Wide not just Australia) have the intellect to vote for a Government that will do the right long term thing. People tend to vote for those who promise to look after their short term problems. Hopefully the next generation is smarter in this respect than the current....but History doesn't indicate that human nature will change anytime soon!

Eventually you need a benevolent dictatorship to do the right thing....not the popular thing.....our favoured political and economic system that's got us to this point is not going to work once resourses are depleted.

You may say my comment is off topic....but the need to find New water supplies is a relavently easy problem compared to the many challenges ahead as our finite resourses diminish.....and the population increases.

And I agree that waahoo's comment whilst unpopular may be the Best solution(Not communisim a benevolent dictatorship....but it's not going to happen)

While i sorta agree with living within our means i think this country is way off that, we are the least populated nation on earth (dont start with iceland and antartica unless you want to live there)

And this is the opposite responce by the government, they are giving you money to have kids. I say stop the imports.

You allow 10000 doctors from other countrys to come in, and other professionals, yea they are gonna eat and breed, then you wont have enough people working at mcdonalds to feed them. I dont know maybe its an old way of looking at things and nations are becoming stopping points for the people of the world.

Just dont get in my personal space or make me learn a different language to order a pizza.

Or even purchase some cichlids using latin :-)

waahoo

well back on the topic. well kinda cause its a different topic

actually i found out at australias current rate we arent expanding (breeding) . every couple needs to have at least 3 kids just to be infront. and theb you have to take into account the people who die before they can reproduce.
and you have people who are deciding not to have kids.

the only reason australia is expanding is because of immigration.

thats why the baby bonus keeps going up and up.

caryb

I wish the bonus was around when I had my 5 kids

& no I'm not a Cattletick

Cary

Dont mind latin for cichlids.

hahaha, pathetic, some ppl get angry way to easy.  Are your "members" really going to get involved over some silly little internet argument about recycled water, i'm sure they have better things to do.

mjscookie

Immigration is great. I can think of at least 30 nations from which i'd more then love to procreate with the female form rather then an average old Aussie. And of course, we'll be having 1/2 children at max..

I drank my first recycled water today - tasted as good as it gets, straight out of the gravel vac, just need to get enough barells to save rom water changes.

here fishie fishie

I have said all I can say on the matter as in information given. People can believe or read up, its not hard to find information. I am not going to change peoples minds. Those that are unsure, there is information out there for people to see. If the powers that be bring in recycled water, I would say most people would just drink bottled water anyway & the recycled water will be used for garden, washing... Could be a good thing, less water consumption.

I think Toowoomba being where it is, should of gone for recycled, not many immediate options for them. Gold Coast has the option of de sal, so why not. Brissie well who knows :?:

Heres a couple of links, to do with water treament on the Gold Coast & another about water treatment just for interest sake.
