hello,

just wondering if anyone has used peat moss or coir peat (sp.) as a b/n substrate, any noticable pros or cons?

what else do people use other than boring gravel?

thanks

I know they're not a big fan of sand. I have a couple in my big tank, and since the sand went in they don't go on the tank floor any more. They are keeping to the glass and the rocks.
mmm, something..........

that's interesting, I would've thought they would like sand because it is closer to their natural habitat

Im puttin marbel chip in my 6ft tank n putting my peppermint BN in there was told they would love it

u can use marble chip, but the only thing is that they will grow heaps slow cause of the high PH

I tried the peat, and the seemed to like it (they could bury themselves, yet it was light enough for them to move about, so they could sucker onto the glass)

but the filter didn't, it was to light so kept clogging up the filter
