Well that is about the price they are asking in Sydney!  And they measure tail and all down there (TL) as if they were catching whiting or flathead.<
><
>You can do better than that locally, fish measured scientificly, (SL), if you want a number of fish let me know and can arrange a far better deal.<
><
>Alan.<
><
>PS.....pepps are only getting $15 - $20 ea (4 cm SL) to wholesalers atm, and only limited demand. The general public are not buying at current prices. When life gives you lemons ask for a bottle of tequila & salt.<

My peppermints
ed over XMAS. I had 8 in one 3x2x2 tank (until it sprung a leak), 5m and 3 females. I have about 60 fry at the moment with another 3 or 4 logs full ready to hatch (or have just hatched). <
><
>I have separated these now into 2 tanks as I was concerned for the fry, getting squashed in the general rush for food. I had to rescue a lot of eggs and they seemed to be kicked out of home before hatching. I guess the problem is the more large fish you have in your tank the more chance of losing the little fish.<
><
>Personally I find 1 or 2 pair per tank is more than enough, although I have a colony of 5 orange spots
eeding that I would not separate.<
><
>My plain
istlenose
ed constantly until I put all 6 pairs in one 5 x 2 x 2 tank. I didn''t get one baby for 4 months but then before XMAs I separated them with maximum two pairs per tank. They have now started
eeding again.<

Scott,<
><
>Pepps are renoun for kicking eggs out of the nest.  The males seem to be just a bit too vigourous for the "sticky-ness" of the eggs mass in the type of logs/caves we are currently using.<
><
>The fish will spawn in them alright, but the success rate is not that good.<
><
>I''m currently looking into a few different designs to see what might give better results.<

on the subject of peppermints again,<
>I can''t afford to buy them right now, but I was wondering IF anyone sells
eeding peppermint pairs at all? <
>probably a long shot as most would want to hang onto any
eeders they have.<
>I know they go for around $300 or so a pair, just curious to see if anyone around the place does sell them.<
>I have a half dozen pepps bout 3-5cm but they''re gonna take aaaaages to get to
eeding size, that''s providing i get 1 pair out of them.... <
><
>so can anyone satisfy my curiosity?  Steven & Amy<

i know a bloke who sold a good
eeding pair (100''s of fry to show) for 600 only 2/3 months ago.. at the same time Ian from this site sold a pair for 300 so it depends on the buyer and who they know.. that 600 was a private sale not through a shop. <
><
>whislt on the subject at what size do females start laying?? i only have 4 2m:2f 1 pair is small 0nly 7 and 9cm in the other the males 13/14 female is 9/10cm..

I find peps need to be 10cm+ before they think of
eeding.

My peps have
ed just a few weeks ago. As soon as i saw the eggs in the cave i was thinking of getting the eggs out straight away in case they accidently kick them out. But, I just watched the male, keeping an eye on him, but to my surprise he didn''t kick them out, everytime i tried to look in the cave he would go right in and block my view of the eggs. Now almost 2 weeks later i have about 40 fry through out the tank. It is the first spawn for my peps. and there is 2m, 2f but one pair is not ready to
eed yet. I have been told that they won''t
eed until they are about 2 years old ad about the price of them - i paid $75 each for my first pair at about 3cm. I was just lucky that i got 1m and 1f. Second pair $45 each at the same place, same size just a year later.
