hi everybody i am writing to ask if anyone has ever used or knows anything about tubs. i have got a 600l tub and was just wondering if i could use it for a grow out tank for bristlenose and if so is there any equipment that i will need. thanks.

So long as it hasn't been used to store anything toxic in the past it should be fine. Just chuck a couple of sponge filters in there with a heater and away you go. I have always found fish show really nice colours in tubs, especially if they are black because they feel safe, as opposed to living in a glass box.

f you can't be good, be good at it.

bristlelover

what shape tub would help them grow i have a shallower rectangle one that is relly wide and and long or a circle one that is more deeper. they both hold the same amount of water but i thought the longer one which is about a foot high as opposed to 3 foot high because bristlenose they are usually hanging out around the bottom any help would be good great thanks.
e kind to your fish and they will be kind to you too

batters

i would give it a go outside they should grow faster eating the algae that grows and they dont seem to mind a cold night

There are pros and cons for inside or outside:
Tubs getting too much sun can overheat in summer especially if they are shallow ones. The water also can go terribly green which the fish enjoy to a degree but it can get out of control. A tub with a smaller capacity like 600 litres can (depending on shape) also fluctuate dramatically in temperature too.
Also birds and dragon flys tend to predate heavily on outside ponds if they are not covered properly. Bristlenose may not have too much of a bird problem but dragon fly nymphs can be vicious to small fry.
But given a good situation with not too much sun and adequate protection your babies will grow bigger and better with great colour outside rather than inside.
It really somes down to your own personal situation and whether you have a suitable spot in the yard.  Under a good shade tree is usually ideal.

Ya well out side is good you could putsome shade cloth over it that will cut out some of the sun and stop the birds and dragion flys
Or a pice of black plastic to keep some of the heat in at night

Good luck
