hey!! i have been travelling around north and south america for the last few months and was able to swim in some crystal clear creeks of a place called Bonito near the pantanel in
azil....it was one of the highlights of my trip! i am no expert on plecos but i spotted a lot down there, a few different types...some were up to two feet long!!! among the tetras, black pacu and what i think were symposium who shared the waters were giant tiger catfish and metre long golden salmon....this was amazing!<
>given that i have heard plecos called "soft water catfish" i was suprised to find out that the natural spring water is so rich in calcium that it accumulates like coral on everything in the water, including the particles that would normally make the water cloudy....making this water clean enough to rival even the best kept aquarium. if any of you get the chance to do this make sure you do!! <
