Dead Fish Floating

Well just signed on then. Just wanted to send out a blanket greetz to all the peeps.
Have played with many types of the fish, but not many herps.
Leaning towards the parrots atm but still love me oddballs.
Coupla tanks of Africans, some marine and rainbows.
Working towards another Jack tank, just have to clear my housemates junk outta the garage.
But the cars will rust they whinge like kiwi's.
But thats just silly.
This is hardly the time to worry on such trivial matters.
I mean their food source is almost gone the species is practically lost.
Move on, I say.
And thats partly the plan.
See, heard a rumour they are paying zoo workers now....
so, chasing up that lead.
And if all else fails see ya all in the sandbox!
Anyway if it has scales....
Iv'e prob kept, bred and killed it.
Well not exactly a 3 outta 3 on everything.....
but it is a work in progress so just bear with me.
Anyway good to be here.
Someone mentioned something about beer or something?
:)

Dead Fish Floating

Geez so much for the lay low and not draw heat from the insane stalkers.........
;D
The river tank is still in many many little pieces.
Just moved so it's in a pile of fish junk....
near the bottem.
Managed to cut some costs using guttering,
but them me mate was like let me use it for rainbows
and then we needed to put the cannibal crays in there....
sure can be hard to keep a tank free of fish sometimes.
Had some good little ideas tho.....
Managed to get a king kong moving arms up and down.
Like the one in simpsons mini-golf.
Kinda hard to top that.....
SO back to me drawing board for a bit.

As to handle change,
made me giggle with my 2 school girls all day long.
So ya, seemed a worthy one.
But mainly it stops a quick google search locating me on every forum I frequent.

Stick with it donny, it's not everyday that a project like that actually gets finished.

Imagine old Don tryin to hide behind a name change, its like an Elephant trying to hide behind a blade of grass. ::) ::)

One sentence, hey thats Don.

Dead Fish Floating

old.....
thats heavy.
I still get hit up for ID if I don't shave.
I love that name change tho,
Came to me in a coffee
the idea that is.

Hypancistrus Zebra

I don't know about you but your new name just gives me a sinking feeling as I visualise all the fish I have scooped of the surface as they start sprouting that horrible white fungus and as their eyes cloud over.

Thanks for the reminder Donny.

Dead Fish Floating

Anytime digger!
Just seemed too green mile/authentic redskin
to pass up.
Not often ya find a nice handle no one has taken.
Way I see, surround yourself with life,
and you get to see a lot more death.
One of those, play the numbers things.

Always feel 200% better if the fish didn't die a virgin.
And if it had a few batches and it's kids are swimming around tanks.
Then at least it's still alive in a way.

besides I always did like a nice anti-name
:)

Dead Fish Floating bringing back bad memories?!? I can top that... I remember a 10 Tonne above ground pool which sprang a leak. By the time I noticed, there was only an inch of water left and the bottom was covered in tank busters of dead and dying semi dry fish. Those still alive were too dried out to survive long and the water was already smelly and red from all the blood. Cheapest fish was around $1K and some I had driven to Sydney especially for (too big to air freight) plus there were so many favourites that I just closed the fish shed door and didnt come back for a week. By then they were all fly blown and falling apart.

Dead Fish Floating .... what a blessing. "Dead Fish Carpet" is what nightmares are really made of!!! :) :)

Hypancistrus Zebra

That is not something that I ever want to experience. I can understand leaving for a week, but I bet you were regretting it when it came time for the cleanup. That just plain sux.

Dead Fish Floating

I once went over to help a lady with her pond. The waterfall was slowing down for some reason.
Anyway got there and smelt the pond from about 100M away.
Fresh dead fish, oldest was maybe 6 hours dead.
Ended up having to dig a huge trench and wheelbarrow load her koi over to it.
Never found out what killed them all,but narrowed it down to 3 things
1) a load of gravel from landscapers had been sprayed for fireants
2) council weed spraying had drifted into tank
3) god hated her
Anyway maybe 200 full sized koi....  kept on thinking I had got them all
but sure enuf every day or 2 another one would float up from the slimy depths.
Visited a few months age....  now this huge pond has nothing but platys and a turtle in it.
oh the humanity of it all.
My opinion that it needed more regular water changes was not appreciated.
'They do ok'

Not anywhere near a Dead Fish Carpet.....   but it was the most death I'd ever seen shy of a trawlers by catch.
Been lucky lately, da gods have been smiling on me fishys!
Gives me the confidence I need to invest on more expensive fish gadjets.
