Hiya,
The first one - "Cichlasoma" (Copora) nicaraguensis or Parrot Cichlid.
Not sure with the second and third ones, they look like they are the same type - possibly: Aulonocara Stuartgranti or Copadichromis Borleyi? Open to correction!

Cant help with the last couple, havent had any experience with zebras. Im sure there's someone here that can help out though.

Cheers

Cool thanks,

Are those parrot cichlids worth anything? I've got a male and a female at 16 and 14cm that I'm thinking of selling...

As with anything - if someone wants it, they will pay...

Havent seen many around, though they used to be plentiful. When
breeding they have large spawns (in the hundreds) so it's easy to
swamp the market. I used to sell the young for $2 each.

Hope this helps..

Quote from: mileIs this a male (top pic) red zebra and female (bottom pic) red zebra????]

The top one is a male red top zebra if you are referring to the Blue coloured fish in that photo. but the bottom one isnt. It looks more like a very pale Pulu point.

Thanks ndoboi,

Devz11, so the blue one is a red top zebra althought it is blue? Isn't the red zebra and pulu point the same thing? Does that mean that the orange looking female that is holding is a pulu point as well?

Cheers

Damo83

hey mate

to me the blue fish in the pic looks like a male tangerine zebra. when breeding the males take on this colouration. if it was a red top then it would have orange fins.

cheers

I think this is what the blue one is:
http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=791
One or two of them must be female cause there is a lot of 3cm juvies in the tank. But then again, the orange looking females that are holding could be their.......ummmm very confuuusing.

Here is the total picture:

I bought the the bulk of these fish of a lady that wanted to get rid of her tank.  Among other fish there are 3 of those blue zebras, 4 orange looking zebras, 5 female orange looking zebras (all holding), about 15 blue zeb juvies and 15 orange looking juvies....
The lady thought that the all orange looking zebs were albinos...

So, what should I call them, cause I want to post all of them for sale... the eggs have started to hatch and I don't have another tank to reise the fry. It all has to go...

devz11

In my honest opinion i would only sell them as feeder fish. The Blue fish is a red top zebra. In my opinion. And yes they are blue. The pulu points which are also known as red zebras are the yellow coloured ones. They are from the same african family. "MBUNA" species and they will inter breed with one another all the time. These types of fish will always breed well. Great fish to start to learn from. But the fry are most probably x breeds.
Red top zebras (blue ones) sont sell for much as a lot people tend to find them a nuisance. They are very territoral and aggressive to all fish.

Does the "blue" fish change colour at any time towards other fish at all??
Red top zebras tend to go from a nice blue to a dark blue and black stripe when threatened and when they are aggressive they tend to go almost white with stripes as well.

Thanks for the reply,

I double checked the other "pale" looking zebras and apearantly they are albino zebras.

I have posted them for sale as that but since nobody wants them I'm taking them to LFS to get whatever I can for the whole colony...

As for the blue ones:
