I am right in saying that Taiwan Reefs should not have a strong dominant bar running horizontally along there body, with a smaller one running also horizontally just above :?: Isn't that a Red Empress or a cross breed of these mentioned :?:
eg; What I saw today looked like this.

Seeing as it has had 40 views, I assume a few outcomes.

Alright then there is a lfs on the gold coast that is meant to be one of the best for cichlids. They are selling fish that look like above as taiwan reefs.
I know shops hate it when people come and say stuff, but I hate seeing wrongly labelled fish for obvious reasons.

All I did was asked what they are?
*guy said taiwan reefs.
I replied why then do they have horizontal bars,
*he said thats what they do.
Very nice size, I see that one is getting the I said nice aqua colour starting to show in the head & red tinge upper body behind gill,
*thats what Taiwans do was his reply.
Oh, I said. May I suggest to you to check on that.
*he then replies with, you don't know what you are talking about.
I said, I know that already, but my wallet will vote for me from now on.

Silly me for being polite, I only call in there once a week on my way home. Always get the same guy, thought he would of remembered me from last week having to catch my own fish, unless that is a regular occurance for him

The lfs isn't a sponsor, but an employee is a member on here. He wasn't on. Maybe he can try sort it out.

Doesn't look like my taiwan reefs
Normally they're like
Head  | |-| |-| |- Tail
and no pigment on the upper lateral line.
You can pick the pattern at a very small size.

I would actually say it is a red empress more so than taiwan reef.
don't just want to breed good fish I want to breed WOW fish.

I am almost certain I am right. the post is placed up as it's more a case of people watching out when shopping for Protomelas.
They cross real easy, it was one thing to look out for when people brought these into the lfs when I was doing the time.
Also me and a few other boys went through the Taiwan phase 3 to 4 years ago. So learnt quickly what to try & look out for.
